Section 01
Enrolment & Confirming Your Place
Lesson places are reserved for the duration of the applicable teaching term. To secure a lesson time, students must confirm their enrolment and pay the required fees by the specified deadline.
Enrolment is considered confirmed once the required payment has been received. Students who do not complete payment by the specified deadline may lose their reserved lesson time. By completing enrolment, students and families acknowledge their commitment to the full-term lesson schedule.
Section 02
Payment Options & Lesson Materials
Accepted Payment Methods
Lesson fees may be paid by:
- Bank transfer (EFT details provided on your invoice)
- Cash (payable directly at the Academy reception)
Full-Term & Half-Term Payment Options
One-on-one lessons may be paid using one of the following arrangements:
Full-Term Payment
The full term, usually 10 weeks, is paid in advance by the specified enrolment deadline.
Half-Term Payment
Weeks 1 to 5 are paid by the initial deadline, with Weeks 6 to 10 payable before the Week 5 lesson.
Note: A administration fee applies to each half-term payment arrangement.
Lesson Materials
Tuition fees do not include instruments, accessories, sheet music, theory books or other learning materials that may be required during lessons. These are purchased separately where applicable.
Section 03
Re-Enrolment & Reserved Lesson Times
Existing students are given priority when re-enrolling for the following term. Re-enrolment information is generally distributed approximately 4 to 6 weeks before the commencement of a new term.
Our usual process is (subject to change):
Week 7 to 8
Families receive re-enrolment notice and temporary hold on their existing lesson time.
Week 8 to 9
Invoices are issued to students continuing into the following term.
End of Week 9
Unconfirmed or unpaid lesson times may be released to timetable changes or waiting list.
Families who do not intend to continue should notify the Academy in writing as early as possible and ideally at least four weeks before the commencement of the following term. Once a lesson time has been released, we cannot guarantee that the same teacher, day or time will remain available. Please ensure your contact details remain current and regularly check both your inbox and spam folder for Academy correspondence.
Section 04
Mid-Term Enrolments & Withdrawal Policy
Mid-Term Enrolments
Students commencing partway through a term will generally be invoiced on a pro-rata basis for the remaining scheduled lessons. Payment is required promptly to secure the agreed lesson time.
Withdrawal & Change of Mind
Lesson fees reserve both the student's place and the teacher's scheduled teaching time for the full term. Once enrolment has been confirmed, no refund or lesson-fee credit is provided where a student chooses to withdraw before the end of the term.
This includes circumstances such as:
- Change of mind
- Holidays or travel
- Changes to work or family commitments
- A decision to discontinue lessons during the term
Our cancellation and make-up policies below apply to individual missed lessons.
Section 05
Academy Term Fee
Compulsory Inclusion: A compulsory Term Fee applies to each term of enrolment at Crescendo Academy. The Term Fee applies to all enrolled students and cannot be removed, reduced, credited or deducted where a student chooses not to attend or participate in a particular event, activity or inclusion. By confirming enrolment, the parent, guardian or adult student acknowledges and accepts the Term Fee as part of the total cost of enrolment.
The Term Fee supports Academy-wide events, programs, resources and enrolment inclusions designed to benefit all students throughout the term. These may include concerts, recitals, workshops, masterclasses, student-development activities, teacher involvement, facilities, learning resources and other Academy initiatives. These opportunities require significant planning, staffing, venue preparation, administration and resources. The Term Fee helps Crescendo Academy continue offering meaningful experiences for our students and families, while also allowing us to develop and introduce further opportunities in future terms.
Participation in Academy activities is not limited to performing. Students are encouraged to attend, observe and support their teachers and fellow students, celebrate the progress and hard work of the wider Academy community, and gain inspiration and learning through live performances and other Academy events.
Section 06
Attendance & Punctuality
Students are expected to attend lessons consistently at their allocated lesson time. Each lesson time is reserved specifically for the student, and teachers may also dedicate additional time outside the lesson to preparation, planning and selecting appropriate learning materials. Regular attendance supports continuity, steady progress and the development of a productive teacher-student relationship.
Late Arrival
Students arriving late will still be required to finish at their scheduled lesson time, as the teacher may have another student immediately afterwards. Unfortunately, lost lesson time due to late arrival cannot be made up.
Section 07
Lesson Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy is designed to balance flexibility for families with fairness to our teachers, whose time is reserved specifically for each enrolled student.
Planned Absences (1+ Week Notice)
Provide at least one week's notice for family commitments or appointments. Supporting documentation is not required; an eligible make-up lesson may be offered within the same teaching term.
School Activities (< 24h Notice)
Where a school activity or commitment is communicated with less than 24 hours' notice, supporting documentation may be required before a make-up lesson can be approved.
Notice Under 48 Hours
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice are eligible for a make-up lesson only where we are able to fill the vacated lesson time.
Illness-Related Cancellations
Cancellations before 12:00 pm may be considered for a make-up. From 3:30 pm onwards, supporting medical documentation may be required.
Late or Unnotified Cancellations
A cancellation made after 3:30 pm without prior notice or a valid reason may result in the lesson being forfeited.
Cancellation Limit
Students may receive a maximum of two student-led cancellations per term. Exceptions may be considered for genuine emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
Section 08
Using Make-Up Lessons
All approved student-led make-up lessons must be completed within the same running teaching term.
Student-led make-up lessons:
- Cannot be carried into the term break.
- Cannot be transferred into a future term.
- Cannot be exchanged for a refund or deduction from a future invoice.
Availability for make-up lessons depends on teacher and timetable availability. Frequent cancellations may affect eligibility for future exceptions and, in some circumstances, may affect the student's ability to retain a highly sought-after lesson time.
Section 09
Teacher Cancellations & Absences
Guaranteed Replacement: Where Crescendo Academy or the teacher is responsible for cancelling a lesson, a make-up lesson is guaranteed.
Where necessary, teacher-led make-up lessons may be arranged:
- During the current term
- During a term break
- In the following term where required
Teacher-led cancellations are provided as a replacement lesson and are not converted into cash refunds or deductions from future tuition fees. Where possible, Crescendo Academy may also arrange a suitable relief teacher to maintain continuity.
Section 10
Public Holidays & Holiday Lessons
Public Holidays
Students are not charged for regularly scheduled lessons that fall on recognised public holidays.
Holiday Lessons
Additional lessons may occasionally be available during school holiday periods, subject to teacher availability. Holiday lessons are charged separately at the applicable lesson rate and must be paid for when booked.
Section 11
Paid Introductory Lessons
Where available, Crescendo Academy may offer a one-off paid introductory lesson. This allows the teacher to assess the student's current ability, learning needs and suitability while giving the student the experience of a regular one-on-one lesson.
Payment is required when booking so the lesson time can be reserved exclusively for the student. Introductory lessons cannot be rescheduled if the student is unable to attend. An introductory lesson does not automatically reserve an ongoing lesson time unless ongoing enrolment is separately confirmed.
Section 12
Media, Photography & Privacy
Crescendo Academy takes the privacy of our students and teachers seriously. Subject to the teacher's approval, photographs or short videos may be taken during lessons, Academy events, concerts or performances for educational, documentation or promotional purposes.
Approved content may be shared through Crescendo Academy's official communication and social media channels. Where students are identified publicly, we generally use first names only. Teachers are not permitted to independently publish student content on their personal social media accounts. They may, however, share or repost content that has already been published through Crescendo Academy's official channels.
Section 13
Our Mutual Commitment
These policies allow Crescendo Academy to provide a fair, consistent and professionally managed learning environment for our students, families and teaching faculty. When a student enrols, their lesson time is specifically reserved and the teacher commits that time throughout the term.
We appreciate the cooperation of our families in helping us maintain consistency, respect our teachers' professional time and provide the best possible learning experience for every student.
Crescendo Academy reserves the right to review and update these Terms & Conditions when required.
